Keep or Toss??

I don't know about you but expiration dates on food mean something to me. My hubby cracks up at me because I treat the date like it is law. If it is 1 day past the date I don't want to eat it. I'm so bad that sometimes I treat the Sell By Date the same as an expiration date. Now I know that not everything goes bad on that date but I tend to error on the cautious side. I would rather throw it out and have to buy another one than eat something that has the chance of making me sick.

The other day I ran across a blog that was talking about cleaning out the fridge. She was saying how she didn't know how long stuff stays good before she should toss it. She went on to say that she had found a site that gave time frames for all kinds of food. I looked into it and think I will be referencing it if I have questions. For example, milk unopened, stays good about a week after the sell by date. So, maybe now I won't waste food that is still good just a couple days past the sell by date :) You can check out the blog here at Happy Housewife and the site Still Tasty.

Now I feel like I need to go clean my fridge :)

Cute sayings from a 2 1/2 yr old....

My lil man is so cute! It is true that kids say the cutest things. I've been meaning to jot down a few of lil man's recently.

A while back lil man and our youngest daughter were playing hide and seek in a closet. Lil man's finger was found in side the door which meant for lots of crying and a black fingernail. After a few weeks he lost the nail. He was very upset about not having a nail anymore and wouldn't even look at it. We told him that he would get another one. It has finally started growing back and his comment was "Look God is giving me another finger (nail)."

One night we were driving home and I asked my hubby if he would rub my shoulders when we got home. Lil man from the backseat, "I'll rub them when we get home if you want me to." In the sweetest lil voice :)

Another time he was rubbing my shoulders and asks "Mommy did someone hit you is that why your shoulders hurt?" I explained no that no one had hit Mommy :)

After lil guy had been crying for most of the car ride from church to the house he says to lil guy, "I don't want to hear it." Unfortunately for lil man, lil guy didn't care and continued to cry the rest of the way home.

I asked Lil man the other day if I was a good mommy. He said yes. I asked what makes me a good mommy, he says "you clean." :)

The other day lil man was laying on the floor and he passed gas. We asked him what was that and he says, "my bottom snorted." That was original :)

Those are all for now but I know there are more I just can't think of, I will try and pass them along as I remember them. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Busy busy busy

What a last few days it has been for us. First I want to say Happy belated birthday to my wonderful hubby and Happy birthday to our oldest, beautiful daughter! I am now the mother of a 17, 12, almost 3 and almost 6 mo old. Lets just say it keeps me on my toes! This is one of my favorite pictures of my hubby and daughter. It was taken when we were on vacation last summer in KC.
Our youngest daughter had her awards assembly on Friday. She made another 9 weeks of Principal's honor roll and had perfect attendance this 9 weeks too. We are so proud of all of her accomplishments and hard work.
This weekend was a busy one. My hubby teaches the 5th and 6th graders at church, so this weekend we had a devo at one of the member's homes. It was a beautiful night where we could be outside and enjoy God's beautiful creation. We roasted hot dogs, and smores which makes for a great time! The kids had a great time fellowshiping with one another outside of class. I have to say that the 3 men in charge of the class, Loft 252, have done a great job with making the kids dig deeper.
As I mentioned it was bday weekend in our household. So, on Sunday night we were going to have my hubby's side over for bday festivities. My hubby goes to Sam's that afternoon to pick up what we needed for dinner. I was at home getting the house ready when my hubby calls and says, "you are never going to believe what just happened?!"..................."The power just went out at Sam's and they can't check anyone out!" Are you kidding me?!! It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day and Sam's loses power?! I couldn't believe it. So, I tell my hubby don't worry about it we will just do pizza (you got to love Lil Caesars $5 Hot and Ready pizzas). He said there were carts full of groceries left all over the place. I was glad that my hubby was in a good mood and just getting stuff for the party and not stuff we needed or it would not have been good.
Then my hubby gets home and tells me that is phone wasn't working, but someone wants to show our house at 530p! So, now we had to call my wonderful sis in law and ask if we could have the party at their house and do a mad dash of making sure the house was ready to show.
The party celebration went off great. The bday guys had a good time and everything worked out just fine. Kind of a crazy Sun afternoon for us. So, hopefully the showing went great and we can get a contract on our house. Then we just need to find a house before we are homeless :)
Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Why I love Spring.....

I LOVE Spring!! It's my favorite time of year. Everything is turning green, blooming, chirping and thunderstorms! The weather is getting warmer and I love it. This week we have had some beautiful weather and this morning we had a rain shower. It was great. I love the smell of fresh rain.

Another reason I love spring is it starts our busy season at work. Our family has owned a tractor company since my grandpa moved the family here back in 1971. I have had the privilege of working for the family since I was 15 and I love it. It's great being able to work w/my grandpa, dad and uncle everyday. Our company gets really busy this time of year as the grass starts to grow. Our great line of Bad Boy Mowers are big sellers. We have a wide range of mowers for every size of yard. Also we are now selling Louisiana Grills, which are wood pellet grills. So with the grass growing and the grilling out season upon us it's our busiest time of year.

Spring is great for many reasons. Our lil man loves it because he isn't stuck inside any more. The kids go out and play basketball, golf, write with sidewalk chalk, pretty much anything you can do outside they do it. I'm so glad that it is finally here! I have had enough of winter and snow this year, hello spring!!
