Family Bday Party
Well, we had lil man's family bday chicken pox and all. He was looking much better on Sat morning and had no signs of any new breakouts. So, our lil man had a fun time opening presents, eating cake and playing w/his cousins. I didn't take any pics since I was helping lil man but my dad did so as soon as I get some from him I will post them. Lil man wants to thank all the family that came to his party and for the great presents! Here are a few pics from before his party started.
Dillons did the cake, it was great!

New look
For those of you who love pictures and don't know about shutterfly.com. It is a great site where you can make gifts and upload photos. They now also have websites you can make and uploading pics is easier. I am going to see which one I like and let me know what you think too. Check out md's vantage point!

He has what?!
Last week not only did lil man turn 1 but he got to have shots. A favorite thing of his of course.
I always feel so bad for him because he alway is so happy, laughing and everything and then the nurse sticks him and he screams. I don't think he screams because it hurts but more because he is mad. As soon as she is done giving him the shot he stops screaming and doesn't even have a tear. Last week was no different. He had to get 2 shots, 1 in each leg. One of them was the chicken pox vaccine. Well, yesterday I noticed a few bumps on lil man's leg. At first they looked just like a bite or maybe a rash. Well, this morning when he woke up I noticed that there were more bumps and it looked worse. It was on both legs and arms and one of his ears. My hubby thought it was chicken pox. I thought no way. So, I made him an appt w/the dr just to make sure of what he had. The male nurse that took us back kinda looked at me like I was crazy for bringing him in and since they didn't itch it was nothing. Our Dr came in and after looking at it said, "I think he has a mild case of the chicken pox." I told him that was what my hubby thought and he said well he is the "smartest man in the world" just what he needs to know ;) So, our poor lil man is teething, has chicken pox and is supposed to have his family bday party this weekend. The Dr did say that he would be fine to have the party so I am just hoping he is in the mood for it. He has been a lil clingy at times but hey who could blame him. Below are some pics. I took them while he was sleeping so they are a lil blurry because of lighting.

Birthday Celebration
I can't believe that my birthday has already come and gone again. A year goes by so fast and I know they will only feel faster as they go. I had a great bday w/my wonderful hubby and kiddos. After work I got to go home and relax while the hubby and our oldest played tennis and our middle child swam at a friend's house. They surprised me w/a new camera that I had been wanting. My hubby is so good because I had only mentioned it to him once and it had been a while ago but he remembered. I had been wanting a smaller digital camera that I could throw in the diaper bag or purse and not take up so much room. He recorded a funny lil video telling me how the camera cost so much that the rest of the family wouldn't get anything they wanted for the next year but they loved me so they would sacrifice, haha. He is so funny. We then went out to dinner at Lee's Chinese Resturant. It is one of my favorites. When I was pregnant I would go there every Fri w/my mom and then take Craig whenever he wasn't tired of it. Needless to say we hadn't had it in a while so he was willing to take us there. It's good food and the kids like it. Well, lil man isn't too sure of it yet but we will give him time. After dinner we went home and relaxed. It was a great bday celebration w/my wonderful family. I am so blessed to have them in my life and I wouldn't change a thing!

He can Walk!!
I guess he was just waiting until his birthday to walk all over the place. He decided it was the day when he was going to motor all over the house and be so proud of himself. We were in the living room and all of a sudden he was walking around the coffee table and then kept going. Now he is on the move. He wants to walk everywhere now. It is so cute how he walks and holds his hands in the air w/a big cheesy grin on his face. I don't have pics but I will post some later. Just wanted to give a quick update :)

Lil Man's 1st Party
Well, it was a small party but still a party :) We are having his party w/all his family next Saturday but for now our lil family had cake and presents. His 1st gift was from my cousin. Everyday lil man comes to work w/me for about an hour and a half. My cousin and him have become buds. So, this morning my cousin had a surprise for lil man. His very own phone! He loves to sit in her lap and play w/the phone so she got him his own. He did play w/it but then of course was more fascinated w/the real phone. His Gmac also had a Happy Bday note waiting on Mommy's desk since he was at a golf tournament all day and wouldn't be there.
He then had a fun day playing w/his sisters and Memaw. Memaw wanted to get hats but there weren't any at the IGA. And she was good and didn't get him a cupcake or anything. Mommy wanted to be there for his first dive into sweets.
Tonight we went out to eat and then home for cake and presents. Mommy made her 1st bday cake. It wasn't anything to write home about (it was a box mix) but I did decorate it :) He wasn't too into the cake he put his hand in it but then wanted Daddy to have the cake. It was cute. He did enjoy opening his gifts all though his 1st gift the ball was his favorite and we had to hide it so he would open the other gift.

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!!
I can't believe that it has already been a year since we were blessed w/another child. Our lil man came into this world only after the Dr forced him out. I had to be induced 9 days after my due date because he just didn't want to come out. See, I should have known, he has been stubborn since before he was born ;) He finally made his entrance after Mommy pushed for over 2 hours. Daddy and Mommy were so happy to see their lil man. We can't wait to see what the next years have in store for us all. He is definitly a loved lil guy!

You know you are in trouble when....
We are very blessed to have our family within 20 miles of us. It is such a blessing not only for us but most of all for our kids. They are able to see their grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins on a regular basis. It has also been a huge blessing in the fact that it allows me to work part time and not have to worry about finding a child care facility. My wonderful mother (after having to twist her arm, haha) watches lil man from 9:30-2p everyday while I work and now that it is summer she gets to have the girls around too.
This last May my mom had to have some surgery where she was unable to watch lil man by herself for 6 wks. So, some of our family came to the rescue. My best friend (sis in law) and my grami and sis were able to jump right in and take care of the lil man. It was such a huge blessing and both my hubby and I are so appreciative of the help.
Today was the last day of the 6 wks for my sis in law before they left town for the weekend. When I went to pick up the lil man she had a story of my lil man that reassures me he is just like his father....stubborn.
My sis in law had been telling lil man to not touch their phone answering machine. He of course kept going over to it and touching it. So, like a good aunt she would kindly tell him no, no and move him away. But to no avail our lil man would end up right back by the machine. This particular time lil man had made his way over to the machine and as he got to it he looked back at his aunt. She again told him no, no. He smiled his cute, heart melting smile and proceeded to the machine, looking back again. She told him no, no. He then touched the machine. My sis in law told him no, no and as she walked over to him he held up his hand ready for it to be slapped. She started laughing and of course since she isn't mommy she didn't slap it, but couldn't resist laughing at the stubborn lil guy.
That is how I know he is going to be trouble. "A slap on the hand, what's that mom?" Oh my what an exciting child he will be, but don't get me wrong I love him!!
**If you are against spanking or slapping that's fine but you don't need to share your opinions about it w/me. Do what is best for your family :) **

What's in a Good Day??
I've been asked many times and probably asked it even more "Are you having a good day?" And in all the times of my answers I never really give it much thought but simply answer with usually one to two words. But last night I started another Beth Moore summer Bible study. On her intro video she said she was asked if she was having a good day and her answer was along the lines of A good day to me is a day spent in God's word.
As part of the study you have 5 days of homework and then you meet w/your group once a week for time of sharing and a video. So, this morning I got up early and started my day in prayer and time w/God doing my study. I didn't think much of it other than I knew I wanted to make time for it and if I didn't do it early I might find other distractions and then the day would be over. After my study I went on w/my normal morning routine and then off to work. A co-worker of mine noticed I was in a good mood and asked what was up. I said I don't know I just did Bible study this morning. She said that's it then.
Isn't it amazing how you start your day sets your mood. I wasn't even really aware of it until someone pointed it out and then I realized that I was in a really good mood. Now, that doesn't mean you won't have times of trials but if you spend time w/God that's a good day for me! So, if you have the chance to start your day off w/God I would highly recommend it!!

Summer Begins
The start of summer! I can't believe that it is already June. And before I know it my baby will be a 1 year old and I will be another year older. One thing I have enjoyed ever since I was lil was my grandparents pool and now my kids and myself get to keep enjoying it. Another added bonus this year is my part time schedule! So, I have the afternoons off and can go swimming w/the kiddos! Since we do have access to a pool my hubby and I had decided to sign lil man up for swimming lessons at 6 mos which is the soonest they can start. Lil man loved swimming lessons. He never cried or screamed and even one time was so relaxed he laid his head on daddy's shoulder and almost dozed off. So, i just knew that he would love this summer at the pool!......
So, we didn't force anything and let lil man play outside. The next day we decided to try again. And the result.....
He LOVED it!! Yea!! He got in and swam around w/big sis and mom. Hung out in his frog and played w/the toys on the stairs w/Memaw. He had so much fun swimming and then getting out play for a lil bit and then getting back in. I was so relieved to know that he enjoys the pool like we had thought he would. Here is a cute pic of our middle child and lil man. The expressions on their face shows they were having just a lil bit of fun, haha.
Finis
It's over! Well, it was over on June 1st but like I said I am a lil behind in posting. Our middle child has finished her first dance recital! She did so well and made her family proud. Her daddy was very impressed w/how she did. He just could've done w/o most of the 3 other hours of dancing. Like I have mentioned before, my wonderful hubby is not a lover of the arts.
Our daughter had a lot of fun and has made new friends this last year. She even surprised us all and wants to try ballet! (Which really makes her mom proud!) So, this summer, this week she will be starting ballet and jazz. She wanted to add tap but we told her to add 1 at a time and see how she likes ballet. I'm very anxious to see how she likes ballet since it is a lot more structured than jazz. It should be fun for her! Her are a couple of pics from the recital.

Here is the class w/my lil sis, their teacher. They wanted to do a silly pose.

Family Camp
Well, for those of you who know about Family Camp you know that it was Memorial Day weekend. I have been so busy I hadn't had a chance to download pics and get a post up. So, I am finally getting the pics and post done. For those of you who don't know about Family Camp, it is a time where our church goes to Rock Springs 4-H Ranch and have a time of fellowship, learning, food and fun. It is a great time away from all of the things that get in the way of our time w/God and each other. We have a great weekend of classes and close time together. As I had mentioned in an earlier post this is where I had made the White Corn Salsa that was eaten or should I say devoured in minutes. Our family has been going to this camp for many years but this year was the first w/lil man. He had a blast other than the fact that he had allergies that bothered him w/sleeping especially. Here are some pics I thought I would share.
Lil man fell asleep during the classes which was perfect for mom because I got to hear daddy teach.
Here is lil man playing back in the lodge. He had fun w/his friends.
Our middle daughter and my hubby had fun canoeing. They also went rifle shooting and our middle daughter went horseback riding.
This is one of our nephews making lil man smile. He kept doing a funny face and lil man thought it was so funny.
Here is the face that was making lil man laugh so hard.
It was a fun weekend of friends and family. There is so much to do! I'll be posting about our busy week following camp which included recital and the beginning of summer!

I cannot stand organ music. It is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I have never really been around organ music a lot but when I do I cannot stand it.
I love mystery shows and movies. Shows and movies that require you to try and solve a crime or mystery always interest me. I always like to try and solve the mystery before the end. It probably is because I grew up watching Murder She Wrote, McGyver, Matlock and shows like that.
I would love to be a cook. I have always been scared to try cooking but I always enjoy it when I do. I have started trying new recipes that I have found on The Pioneer Woman Cooks website. The roast, apple dumplings and cookies and candy are very good! There are other ones I am looking forward to trying like the pasta primavera. I would love to be able to cook and have people in our home more.
I love the smell of rain and a good thunderstorm. The lightening and thunder amaze me. It is awesome to see and hear the awesome power of God right in front of you. On my hubby and my first date we ended the night by sitting on his front steps watching the lightning. Maybe that is why I really like storms :)
My favorite movie(s) of all times is the Back to the Future Trilogy. The 2nd one is my absolute favorite, I think it is because it is the most confusing going back and forth to the future and past. They are great movies! My daughters finally have realized the greatness of these movies 2 weekends ago. Our oldest had always thought it was a cheesy 80s movie but they watched it w/my mom and they were hooked. It makes a mom's heart feel good when her daughter's have a love for the same thing.
My favorite meal that my Grami cooks is Chicken and Noodles, mashed potatoes, rolls and her Millionaire cake. I'm not really sure what all is in the cake but it is good.
