Such a lil gentleman

When we were blessed with our lil man last year my hubby was excited. He couldn't wait to rough house w/him, play w/him, go fishing when they needed to get away from all of us girls, but most of all to teach him how to be a gentleman. Now, he has a ways to go since lil man likes to pull hair, pinch and bite but he does have one thing down. Shaking hands. Before my son knew how to wave my hubby taught him to shake hands. And if he shakes some one's hand he has to keep going for at least another person. He loves shaking hands. This last weekend we went out to dinner as a family and a friend of our oldest (who is a guy) came over to the table to talk to her. Our lil man was sitting in between my hubby and I and as soon as the friend started talking to his big sis he immediately stretched his hand out to shake this guy's hand. It was so cute! My hubby said he had to make sure about this guy who was talking to his big sis. Then on Sunday morning at church I walked lil man around to burn some energy before services started. We were in the foyer and he wanted to shake everybody's hand. He is training to be a greeter I think, haha. It is so cute to see such a lil guy wanting to shake everyone's hands. I haven't got a pic of it yet but as soon as I do I will post it. Enjoy your day!

Big boy

For the last couple of weeks our lil man has HATED his crib. Unless he was in a deep, deep sleep he would scream at the top of his lungs if we tried to put him in the crib. And if he was kind of asleep as soon as we would bend over to put him down he would grab on to us w/a death grip and start crying. It never failed around 1am every morning he would wake up screaming and not lay back down in his crib. This became very hard on mom and dad and very, very tiring. One night I slept on the floor in his room and another night Dad did, but we had to figure out something other than bringing him to our bed.

When I was a lil around lil man's age my parents figured out that I was claustrophobic. I would actually climb out of my crib and throw myself onto the floor just so I wasn't in my crib. As soon as they made it into a bed I stayed in my bed.

So, we made the step up to a big boy bed! After we took the front of the crib off we let him climb in and out of it, thinking he was big stuff. He hasn't made it all night yet but now when he wakes up all we have to do is pat his back and he lays back down. No more screaming or death grips or sleeping in between mom and dad! They grow up so fast.

Here is a pic of him during nap time today.

Weekend happenings

Well, this weekend it was just the 3 of us. Our daughters spent the weekend w/their grandma so that left lil man hanging out w/mom and dad. Friday night I got to have a girls night w/one of my best friends. We went to dinner and then to Wichita Music Theater's show All Shook Up. We had so much fun. The show was absolutely hilarious and we enjoyed it so much. It was funny because we were not sure going into it how we would like it but it turned out much to our surprise to be great. And all the people around us kept saying the same thing, how surprised they were that they liked it. It was a lot of fun! So, since Mom went out Daddy and lil man had a guy night. Much to my surprise when I got home lil man had fallen asleep and been asleep since 7:30p. How in the world does Dad always get so lucky?! He didn't even have to change a diaper on his watch, haha.

Saturday morning lil man woke up nice and early ready to go. Of course Mommy was not so ready to go but w/Dad at the YMCA I had no choice. So, we got up went to the store and then on a morning walk. It was a nice morning just not what Mommy had planned on. After Daddy got home from working out we took lil man to the zoo for the first time. At first he kind of just looked at the animals w/no interest. But when we got to the gorillas he watched them very carefully. After the zoo and his nap we went swimming. Our lil man loves to play w/rocks so after he swims a bit he will sit on the side and just play in the rocks by the pool. He knows though that they don't go in the pool when he does.

And now it is the end of our weekend. We are going to celebrate my brother-in-law's bday at one of our favorite sandwich places tonight and then go back to their house for cake and ice cream. Lil man has finally laid down for his much needed nap. Hope you all have a great finish to your weekend!

Here are a few pics of lil man at the zoo w/the gorillas.

Ahhhhh

Thank you moms! Thursday night I was able to indulge, because of my 2 moms, and take an hour to enjoy a relaxing massage. Massages are such a treat for me! They are my favorite splurge and I don't get them near as often as I would like :) I had my first massage as a gift from my grandma before my wedding. I had another on our honeymoon which was wonderful, and then again when I was pregnant, which was much needed. If I had a choice of the one treat I could have over and over would be a massage. This time I used a gift card I got for mother's day and bday money to enjoy the time of relaxation. I have to say though that during a massage the hour goes by way too fast. She was giving me a scalp massage and I knew that the time was over and I thought about saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" But I refrained and enjoyed the last moments. So, if any of you are thinking about indulging I would definitely recommend it. Check out Charisma Salon or Healing Waters both offer great massages!

4th of July Festivities

Well, another 4th of July has come and gone. This year my Grami had her sisters and some of their families come in town to celebrate my great grandpa's 84th bday. It was a day full of swimming, lots of food and fireworks. My great grandpa gets fireworks on his bday every year since he was born on the 4th. It was a good time by all. This was lil man's 1st 4th where he really could pay attention to the activities. Last year he spent the evening sleeping in one of his grandma's arms. Not that they minded. This year he watched them for a bit and then wanted to go into Memaw's to lay down. He kept pointing to the house. So, Mommy took him in and he laid down and watched tv for a bit before falling asleep. Daddy had fun blowing stuff up. Mommy didn't mind since I am not a big firework fan anyway. I get it from my Daddy. We like them for a while but then we are like ok, I'm done. My Dandad has had the tradition for as long as I can remember that he collects his spare coins all year long and then cashes them in to buy fireworks. This year my sis, her husband and our middle child helped him spend the money. From what I heard and the lil I saw it was a good show. Since I was inside w/lil man and my hubby was preoccupied I don't have any fireworks pictures. It was amazing to see all of the different fireworks going off around the town. The whole area was blowing stuff up :) I hope that you all had a fun and safe 4th of July!

Our new fun

A couple of weeks ago our good friends purchased a wii fit and told us how they loved it. I was so excited to play it but because of some conflicts we hadn't had the chance. So, for my bday I had received money (that I was to spend on myself and not the kids) and thought I could get this game. So, the Mon after my celebration I began calling around to find the game. After calling basically every store I could think of in Wichita w/no luck of finding one. Every store was sold out and when asked when they would be getting a shipment they informed me how Nintendo is very secretive and doesn't let the store know when anything was coming. I was so disappointed I had figured out what I wanted to spend my money on and then no luck. So, Tues I looked online again and saw that at the store way east of where I am they had a limited availability. I immediately called and found out that they did have some in stock. As soon as I got off work I headed east to finally get my game. I walk in the store and see a lady checking out w/the game, I go over to the aisle and to my dismay the shelf is EMPTY. I thought just my luck. I went up to the counter behind the lady that was buying my game and patiently waited. The clerk asked me how he could help me and I asked if that was the last wii fit. He went to check it out for me while the lady told me how she hadn't even come to buy the game but just saw it and got it for her mom. I thought to myself I just drove all the way across town specifically to buy this game and if you bought the last one right before me I was going to scream. As I waited he came out of the backroom empty handed but said that they were behind the counter. To my luck they had 3 left and I only needed 1 :)

So later that night we broke the game out and my hubby and I had fun playing on it. It measures your BMI and gives you an age and has you set goals. There are four different areas: strength, yoga, balance, and aerobics. A board comes with the game that you stand on which measures your balance and movements. It is a lot of fun to play but I think it may be even more entertaining to watch. There is a hula hoop game where you are moving your hips like you are trying to hula hoop and even though you look silly doing it, it's a lot of fun.

My recommendation is if you are looking for a fun game that you can play and get something out of it as well, this is the game for you!

Melts my heart

My great grandmother lives w/my grandparents and has for the last several years. When my hubby and I started dating our oldest would sit at the table w/my Grandma Day and talk w/her for a while. Our oldest has such a tender heart especially for older people. Over the last few years her health has declined and it has been hard for me to see since I remember her when she would come and babysit us or we would go down to the farm to see her. Some days are better than others but most days she thinks I am my mom. One of the cutest things that melts my heart is my lil man. Whenever he sees my Grandma Day he will wave and smile to her. The other day he even was playing w/his toys and stopped to wave at her. Although my kids, especially lil man, will never know their Great Great Grandmother very well, it warms my heart to have pictures like these:

2 1/2 Teeth and All

My son finally has 2 1/2 teeth. The one on top is finally half way in. I have been saying that it will be so nice when he has top teeth so he can really bite things. Well, this lil man doesn't cease to amaze me each day. Last night we were having dinner w/my grandparents and we had hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob and other goodies. As my son sat in his high chair he had an assortment of meat, cheese, bun and pickel on his tray but every time I turned back to my plate he would go "EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" It will be a lot nicer when he can talk, it would have saved us some time last night :) So, I tried to figure out what he wanted. I kept telling him he had everything I had, but that wasn't working. I thought maybe he wanted my lemonade, that wasn't it. Finally we figured out what he was wanting on my plate. The corn on the cob. So, I shaved some corn off the cob and gave it to him. Although he ate it he still wasn't content until he had the cob. He got it and said "Yummmm Yum Yum". I thought I would share some pics of my lil man eating the corn on the cob. Now note that he didn't eat all that's missing from the cob, Mommy shared her corn. Isn't he cute!

" This stuff is good!"
