Sick Kids

It's that wonderful time of year when sickness is everywhere. I know that we are not alone with struggling with sick kids and there are a couple of friends who I know have had a harder time with it then we did. This week was our lucky go with sickness. On Tuesday early morning lil man woke up with a fever. It wasn't too high so my hubby stayed home with him. All day he was fine and didn't have a fever until dinner time. After we gave him his medicine he was fine and went to bed as normal. About 9:15 he woke up with another fever and it was 102 degrees. All night and into the wee hours of Wednesday morning he battled a fever that went from 102 up to 103.4 degrees. We put a wash cloth on him and then gave him a bath and that seemed to work great. Just to be sure I called the dr to see if he wanted to see him. The nurse called back and said we needed to get him in to see the dr. The poor guy had strep throat and a ear infection in both ears. On top of that he has about 6 teeth coming in right now. Needless to say him being cranky was definitely for a reason. It amazed us how fast he started feeling better after he took medicine. On Thurs he was doing much better and his poor sister was down with a head cold. She couldn't breathe and went through a couple boxes of Kleenex. Friday we were back on schedule and everyone feeling better. Our oldest was staying away from the sick ones because she didn't want to get sick especially with her musical only a couple of weeks away.

I hope you all are staying well and not having to battle any sickness. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
For some reason blogger wants to keep flipping this picture but oh well. It's pretty cute of my sick kiddos.

Role Model

Who is your role model? Do you have one? My hubby teaches 4-6th graders on Sunday mornings at our church. He had them fill out a survey and one of the questions was who is your role model. There were some who didn't have one, others were athletes but the most was parents, or really moms. My daughter brought me to tears on her answer. On Monday she wanted to show me her answer. Her role model was "My step-mom because she had to be a mom from the start and she is a good mom."

For those of you who don't know I have 2 wonderful step daughters who I wouldn't trade for the world. When my hubby and I got married I was an instant mom to a 7 and a 12 year old. Although we have had our trials those girls mean just as much to me as lil man. The fact that our youngest daughter has me as a role model means so much to me.

Although I wrote about the best Christmas present earlier as a basketball game. The best present ever is love and my youngest daughter gave me the best present ever without even knowing it!

I love you girls!!

Safety Expert in Training

I don't have any pictures to go along with this post but thought it was a pretty cute story. My lil man comes to work w/me every morning except Wednesdays for about an hour and a half. He has fun playing with everyone and walking all over the place like he owns it. Today our service and parts departments had some safety training. Across the hall from my office is the conference room where they watch the videos and take the tests. My lil man was in the hallway and he came running back into my office and pointed to the conference room. So, I explained to him they were watching the safety videos. I think he is well equipped to drive a forklift now :) About a minute later I look outside my office and my lil man is sitting on the floor in the hallway watching the video. Now I don't know too many people who actually enjoy watching safety videos but my son was zoned in on those videos. It was pretty cute I thought.

The Best Christmas Present Ever....

I have loved basketball since I was a kid. My favorite player and team was Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. I loved watching them so much. I collected Basketball cards and one of my favorite times of the year is March Madness. Although now I watch mainly college basketball I do still watch some NBA. So, for Christmas my hubby got our family (minus lil man) tickets to the Thunder v Heat NBA basketball game. It was the BEST Christmas present ever. We had a lot of fun and the game was great too. The Heat won 104-94. Dwayne Wade scored 32 points for the Heat and Kevin Durant scored 31 for the Thunder. Also, it was good to see Rookie Mario Chalmers play so much and well for the Heat. Michael Beasley also played for the Heat but had a rough night with 4 fouls and not much play time. Earlier in the day we went to the OKC Memorial which was very neat to see. The museum was closed due to a water leak on Friday, but we will visit again. The girls and I had never been there so it was good to see it. After that we walked around Bricktown and went to dinner at the Brewery. Then we were off to the game. It was a great day! Thanks hubby!! Here are some pics.

What do you get....

What do you get when you have 2 siblings who don't discuss dad's gift???

The same 2 shirts!

This last weekend as I mentioned we had birthday festivities. One of them was celebrating our daughter's, my father in law's, and one of our nephew's bdays. As my father in law was opening the gift we gave him I noticed my sis in law laughing w/her husband. My hubby had said "That's from me." (Well at Christmas when anyone opened a good gift my hubby said "That's from me.") So then my sis in law tells her dad to open their gift. As he does we see that my hubby and his sister had picked out the exact same 2 shirts color and all for their dad. My brother in law had thought my father in law was opening their gift and my hubby was just saying it was from him. This was the first year that my hubby and his sister hadn't discussed what they were getting for their dad. Next year I think they will be talking about the gift :) So, if you see my father in law a couple days in a row w/the same shirt, don't worry it isn't the exact same shirt he just has 2 of them :)

Zoo Trip

The great thing about having a zoo membership is you can go anytime and stay for any amount of time and not feel guilty. Last Saturday was a pretty nice day for being January, so we decided to go to the Zoo. Lil man had a lot of fun seeing the gorillas, reptiles, all the farm animals, and all the other animals along the way. This time was the first time we headed over to the farm area. I have to admit that ever since I was a kid and the goats chased me for no reason, I am not a big fan of the petting zoo areas. But I managed to walk through the area and no sheep or goat attacked Mom so we were good, haha. We were enjoying the day when the cold front moved in a lil sooner than we had expected so we decided that we would head home. It was a very fun day here are a couple of pictures.

I will have more to post after this weekend......What has 12 legs, giggles a lot and stays up late??

Changes over a year

As the new year begins many people look ahead to new year resolutions. Some want to lose weight others want to save more money. It's a time for starting over for many people, to get a fresh start. Many people are looking for a change. I don't know if you have a resolution or not but I challenge you to look back on the past year and see if there is somewhere you want to change. Maybe you want to change something physically or maybe spiritually but whatever it is I hope that you will take the opportunity to not just think about it but put it into action.

While I was looking through pictures of the past year, trying to get them organized (a small goal) I noticed how much you can see change in lil kids. Although we all change and grow older it is much more noticeable in lil kids. They grow and change so fast it is amazing to me. Our lil man is now a year and a half and has drastically changed from last year. He went from practically no hair, to so much hair he needs a haircut every week. He went from no teeth to 6 teeth (hopefully he will get the rest of his teeth in, or maybe he is destined to be a hockey player ;)) Last year at Christmas we took a picture of lil man and Daddy, this year we repeated the picture to see how much he had changed. What do you think?

We can't wait to see the changes for all of us in 2009!
